PCN catheter, or Percutaneous Nephrostomy Catheter, is a medical device used to drain urine directly from the kidney when normal urine flow is blocked. It is inserted through the skin into the kidney under imaging guidance such as ultrasound or fluoroscopy.
It is commonly used in cases of kidney stones, ureter blockage, tumors, infection, or injury in the urinary tract. The catheter allows urine to drain into an external collection bag, relieving pressure on the kidney and preventing damage.
